HANOVER, N.H. – MIT's women's openweight crew team sent a pair of entries to compete in the Dartmouth Green Monster on Saturday. An event for novice crews, the Engineers completed the three-mile course on the Connecticut River with the B team posing a finish of 9th.
MIT's B had a good showing for the Engineers. Starting nine seconds behind the B crew from UMass, MIT overtook them and went on to pass two crews from Vermont to place ninth in the 15 crew field with a time of 17:57. A mile into their race, the MIT A crew was hit with misfortune when their shell hit a log in the river. Forced to stop and then complete the course with a damaged boat, the Engineers finished 15th with a time of 23:35.
MIT will close out its fall season next week back on the Charles River when it competes in the Foot of the Charles on Nov. 9.
