Women's Openweight Crew Wraps Up Season With Sixth-Place Finish at Patriot League Championship


- Location: Worcester, Mass. (Lake Quinsigamond)

- The Lead: On Friday afternoon in Worcester, the MIT women's openweight crew team wrapped up the 2018-2019 season with a sixth-place overall finish at the Patriot League Championship. The Engineers advanced to the Grand Final in both the V8 and 2V8 and appeared in the Petite Final for the V4 crew.


- In the Varsity 8 heat in the morning, the Engineers crossed in a time of 6:51.519 to finish nearly five seconds in front of Colgate. In the Grand Final, the Engineers finished sixth overall and improved by over nine seconds with a time of 6:42.274 to finish less than a half second behind Lehigh.

- The Second Varsity 8 was also third in its heat, crossed in 7:14.854 to finish just over four seconds in front of Holy Cross. The Engineers were sixth in the Grand Final, improving by 4.3 seconds to cross in 7:10.554.

In the Petite Final for the Varsity 4 crew, MIT was second in 9:08.267 to finish behind Colgate. The Engineers moved into the Petite Final following a fourth-place finish in Heat One with a time of 8:50.166.
