Hank Zimmerman enters his fourth season as an assistant coach with the MIT women's openweight crew team in 2018-19. Zimmerman brings six years of collegiate coaching experience to the Engineers' program, including three seasons with the Princeton University women's lightweight team before coming to Cambridge.
At Princeton, Zimmerman helped the Tigers earn a silver medal at the Eastern Sprints in his first season with the team. Princeton also earned a regular-season win over Wisconsin and a runner-up finish at the San Diego Crew Classic. In 2013-14, Princeton earned a bronze medal at the Eastern Sprints and reached the grand final at the IRA Championships. In 2014-15 Zimmerman coached the Varsity 4+ to a Bonze medal at the IRA Championships.
At Georgetown he coached the Hoyas Varsity 8 crew to a fourth-place finish at the Eastern Sprints and recruited the Class of 2016. Prior to Georgetown, Zimmerman was an assistant coach for the both the men's and women's rowing programs at Franklin and Marshall College. While at Franklin and Marshall, he received his masters in education from Millersville University in 2011.
A 2009 graduate of Ithaca College with a degree in history, he was a four-year member of the crew team there.
