Women's Fencing Has 4-1 Outing at NFC Competition

Providence, R.I. (January 28) - In its return to action, the MIT women's fencing team generated a 4-1 performance at the Northeast Fencing Conference competition hosted by Brown University on Saturday. The Engineers defeated Tufts University (17-10), Dartmouth College (21-6), Vassar College (17-10), and Brown (15-12) but fell to Boston College (15-12), moving their record to 11-6 overall and 10-2 in the conference. Senior Jessica Li (Englewood, Colo.) won 14 of her 15 foil bouts while sophomore Helen Sakharova (Ridgewood, N.J.) and freshman Tesla Wells (Phoenix, Ariz.) both produced 11-3 ledgers for the epee team. Junior Nicole Kogan (New Haven, Conn.) paced the sabre team with a 7-8 mark.
