- The Lead: Sophomore Thérèse Mills (Medford, N.J.) powered the sabre squad with a 16-2 performance in the Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) opener for the MIT women's fencing team on Saturday. Compiling a 5-2 ledger, the Engineers defeated UMass (19-8), University of New Hampshire (24-3), Boston University (23-4), Smith College (24-3), and Sacred Heart University (14-13) but fell to Wellesley College (18-7) and Brandeis University (16-11). Senior Helen Sakharova (Ridgewood, N.J.) led the epee unit with a tally of 16-4 while junior Stephanie Li (Greenwood Village, Colo.) amassed a record for 15-5 for the foil team.
