Women’s Fencing Competes at Brandeis Invitational

- The Lead: Facing its toughest competition during the first half of the season, the MIT women's fencing team posted a 1-4 ledger at the Brandeis University Invitational on Sunday. The Engineers topped the University of Incarnate Word (18-9) but fell to St. John's University (20-7), Cornell University (21-6), University of North Carolina (20-7), and Yale University (17-10). Senior Helen Sakharova (Ridgewood, N.J.) and junior Taiylor Nunn (Westport, Conn.) both went 8-7 for the epee team while sophomore Thérèse Mills (Medford, N.J.) and first-year Anita Dey Barsukova (Richardson, Texas) paced the sabre squad with records of 7-8. Junior Karen Gu (East Hanover, N.J.) turned in the best performance for the foil unit as she recorded a mark of 5-9.
