Field Hockey Voted Second in NEWMAC Preseason Poll

Boston, Mass. (August 29) – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its annual field hockey preseason coaches' poll on Tuesday afternoon with MIT being picked for the second spot while also receiving one first-place vote.

In 2016, the Engineers compiled a 13-5 ledger after falling to nationally-ranked No. 9 Babson College, 1-0, in the NEWMAC Championship. Returning to the squad will be NFHCA All-American senior Emily Penn (Columbia, Md.) along with All-Region selections senior Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) and junior Bailey Tregoning (Frederick, Md.).

MIT opens the 2017 season on Thursday, September 1 when it hosts Simmons College at 6:00 p.m. on Jack Barry Field.
