Westwood, Mass. (November 1) – The MIT field hockey team received a program-record 11 Academic All-Conference Team selections as announced by the NEWMAC on Thursday. The list consists of 60 total student-athletes from the sport of field hockey.
Seniors Allie Shepard (Wexford, Pa.) and Katherine Stoll (Avon, Conn.) collected their third awards from the conference while juniors Devon Goetz (Rockville, Md.), Taylor Grey (Horsham, Pa.), and Jacqueline Liao (Great Neck, N.Y.) were repeat honorees. Senior Bailey Tregoning (Frederick, Md.) along with sophomores Megan Flynn (Branchburg, N.J.), Amanda Garofalo (Fairfield, N.J.), Emma Majercak (Wayne, Pa.), Grace Moore (Boston, Mass.), and Delia Stephens (Austin, Texas) rounded out the Engineers as first-time qualifiers.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or a 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2018 spring semester, must have achieved second year academic status at their institution and have been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
MIT returns to action this afternoon in the semifinals of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. The No. 5 seeded Engineers will travel to top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 13 Babson College for a 3:30 p.m. match-up.
