Field Hockey Prepares for NCAA Tournament

Indianapolis, Ind. (November 10) – After winning its second NEWMAC Championship in three years and sixth overall, the MIT field hockey team learned it will travel to the University of Scranton for an NCAA Tournament first round game on Wednesday, Nov. 13. This will be the first meeting between both teams in program history.

The No. 2 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament, MIT earned a bye and a spot in the semifinals where it defeated No. 6 seed WPI, 4-1, and then rallied to defeat nationally-ranked No. 15 and top-seeded Babson College, 3-2, in overtime in the title game.

Top-seeded Scranton (13-7) captured its first Landmark Conference title after defeating No. 3 seed Susquehanna University, 4-1, on Saturday. The Royals will be making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1997 and second overall.
