CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - MIT got off to a shaky start on Tuesday night at Jack Barry Field as the visiting Lasell College Lasers got on the scoreboard first less than three minutes into the game. But the Engineers responded by rattling off five unanswered goals en route to an easy 5-1 victory over Lasell.

After Lasell sophomore Katie Bryer capitalized on a penalty corner to give her team a 1-0 lead at 2:51 of the first half, MIT completely took control of the game. The Engineers pounded Laser senior goaltender Linda Williams with twelve shots in the first half, three of which found the back of the net. Senior co-captain Noelle Kanaga started the assault after hitting home a pass from junior Anna Ayuso at 6:23. Ayuso wasn't done dishing out assists. She found Lauren McCarthy at 18:59 and Cheryl Texin at 26:13 of the first half to give MIT a 3-1 advantage.

Cheryl Texin continued on her hot streak in the second half and buried her fifth goal of the season off a penalty corner at 38:33. With the game nearly out of reach for Lasell, Ayuso added insult to injury, picking up her first goal and fifth point of the evening on a short, quick pass from senior co-captain Deanna Lentz at 44:42.

With the victory, MIT improved to 2-0 at home this season and 4-1 overall, while Lasell (0-3) dropped their third straight game. MIT sophomore goaltender Alexa Herman picked up the win and Lasell's senior keeper Linda Williams suffered the loss.

MIT will look to remain undefeated at home this Thursday when they host Simmons College at 7:00 p.m. at Jack Barry Field.
