CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Anna Teruya and Nirupama Yechoor each collected their first-career hat tricks as MIT blanked Daniel Webster College, 9-0, in non-conference field hockey action Friday night. Jessica Oleinik scored twice, while freshman Katie Kauffman recorded her first goal for the Engineers.

MIT got on the board early, as Oleinik put home a rebound just 1:27 into the game. Yechoor would add her first goal a few minutes later, scoring off of a penalty corner from Ekavali Mishra. Yechoor then extended Tech’s lead with just over 20 minutes remaining in the half on an unassisted goal. Teruya would score twice in the half, both as a result of penalty corners, with Oleinik’s second goal coming in the middle. MIT took a 6-0 lead into the locker room, outshooting the Eagles, 13-0, in the first half.

Teruya had a chance at another goal early in the second but was turned away on a brilliant defensive save by Daniel Webster freshman defender Sarah Steves. Kauffman tallied the first goal of her MIT career 21 minutes into the second half to give the Engineers a 7-0 advantage. Teruya would complete her hat trick with just under six minutes remaining and Yechoor added her final goal less than 30 seconds later.
