MIT Women’s Lacrosse Releases 2012 Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT women's lacrosse team begins its 2012 campaign on Tuesday, March 6 at local foe Gordon College. Two new opponents appear on the Engineers' schedule in addition to a six-game New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) docket.

Following MIT's season-opener, three of its next four games take place on Roberts Field beginning with Williams College March 13. Two days later, the Engineers visit Bridgewater State University before concluding their home-stand with Eastern Connecticut State University (March 17) and Framingham State University (March 20).

The Cardinal and Gray start NEWMAC play on March 24 at Smith College and then head to California for its annual spring training trip. MIT squares off with first-time foes Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (March 26) and Pomona-Pitzer (March 28) in addition to the University of Redlands (March 27), which visited Cambridge in 2009.

Upon their return from the West Coast, the Engineers resume league action versus Mount Holyoke College on March 31. A week later, the squad begins a four-game road trip as it travels to the University of Southern Maine, Wellesley College, Keene State College, and Springfield College over the course of seven days.

MIT concludes the regular season with home games against Babson College (April 17) and Wheaton College (April 21). Should the Engineers finish among the top five teams in the conference standings, they will earn a spot in the NEWMAC Championship Tournament with first-round play slated for April 25.
