SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In its final road game of the season, the MIT women's lacrosse team fell to Springfield College, 13-2, in a NEWMAC contest on Saturday afternoon. Senior Katie Kauffman (Olney, Md.) and junior Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) provided the scoring for the Engineers.

Kauffman added three groundballs while junior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied a trio of draw controls and caused turnovers. In net, sophomore Sarah Ritter (The Woodlands, Texas) turned away 12 shots.

Over the course of 16 minutes in the first half the Pride posted eight unanswered goals, the last coming at the 12:06 mark. The Engineers generated seven shots on goal during the frame but Springfield's goalie was impenetrable.

The hosts' margin grew courtesy of five goals during a 13-minute stretch in the second stanza. MIT ended the shutout on Kauffman's solo effort with 7:41 left to play while Wright found the back of the net with just over a minute remaining.
