Westwood, Mass. (April 23) – For the second time this season, MIT senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) was selected for NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the conference on Monday. The recipient of the Engineers' second straight weekly accolade, she tallied 12 goals and six assists for 18 points while collecting 12 draw controls in a pair of wins last week.
Young kicked things off by posting six goals, two assists, and three draw controls in a 16-4 victory at Emerson College last Wednesday. She then racked up six goals, four assists, and nine draw controls in a 23-11 victory over Wheaton College on Saturday. Young tied the MIT season assists record nine minutes after it was broken by junior Ana Flooks (Weston, Conn.) and was one point shy of tying the program record for points in a game.
MIT (9-5, 5-1 NEWMAC) returns to action on Wednesday, April 25 when it visits NEWMAC foe U.S. Coast Guard Academy for a 4:00 p.m. start.
