Westwood, Mass. (April 23) – For the second week in a row and the third time this season, MIT senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) was selected for NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week accolades as announced by the league on Monday. In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, she tallied 10 goals, two assists, eight draw controls, and four groundballs.
Young produced seven goals and one assist in an 18-16 win at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy last Wednesday, becoming the first player in program history to eclipse 100 points in a season and 300 in a career. She then registered three goals, one assist, five draw controls, and three groundballs in a 22-6 victory over Smith College on Saturday.
MIT (11-5, 7-1 NEWMAC) returns to action on Saturday, May 5 as the No. 2 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament. The Engineers will face either No. 3 Springfield College or No. 6 Smith College in a semifinal match-up at 3:00 p.m. at top-seeded Babson College.
