Westwood, Mass. (May 2) –Breaking the program record it set last year, the MIT women's lacrosse team had 12 student-athletes receive NEWMAC Academic All-Conference accolades as announced by the league on Thursday. The list is comprised of 56 student-athletes who earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.35 on a 5.0 scale after the 2018 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the team for the entire season.
Seniors Shannon Francis (Houston, Texas) and Lucy Halperin (Seattle, Wash.) received their third award while fellow classmate Ana Flooks (Weston, Conn.) along with juniors Rayna Higuchi (Solana Beach, Calif.), Sydney LaPorte (Baltimore, Md.), and Emily Ryeom (New York, N.Y.) were repeat honorees. Seniors Cecilia McCormick (Islip, N.Y.) and Christine Noh (La Canada, Calif.) in addition to sophomores Hannah Adams (McLean, Va.), Flora Klise (Mystic, Conn.), Joyce Noh (Los Angeles, Calif.), and Allison Pinto (Ann Arbor, Mich.) made the list for the first time.
MIT (10-7, 7-1 NEWMAC) returns to action on Thursday, May 2 as the No. 2 seed of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. The Engineers kick off their postseason by hosting No. 3 Springfield College in a semifinal game that is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start. In the regular-season match up on March 23, MIT came from behind to defeat the Pride, 14-12.
