CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – It was announced last week that MIT's Emily Kuo (Chicago, Ill.), Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) and Andrea Park (Irvine, Calif.) were selected to play in this weekend's annual New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl. The game, which features the best seniors from across New England, will be played at the fields of Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2. This is the eighth year that MIT has had players selected to play in the Senior Bowl and the first time that three Engineers have earned the nod. The game will include players from all three divisions that were voted on by coaches from across the region.
Kuo, the leading overall vote getter on the Division III ballot, played and started all 21 games during her senior season. The NEWMAC Athlete of the Year scored a team-leading 13 goals and 27 points this season, bringing her career goals total to 42 and points total to 104, placing her fourth in the MIT record book in both categories. She was also named NEWMAC first team All-Conference.
Wright, who earned the most votes among the three goalkeepers selected, played every minute of the 21 games this season and wrapped things up with a record of 14-4-3. She posted nine shutouts, bringing her career record to 37, putting her atop the standings in the MIT record book. Wright was named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team, NEWMAC second team All-Conference and the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
A staple of the MIT defense, Park was one of only five Engineers who played and started all 21 games this season. Her two goals were scored ten minutes apart against Husson (10/09), leading MIT to a 5-0 win. The senior was a NEWMAC first team All-Conference honoree and a first-time CoSIDA Academic All-District nominee.
