MIT Women's Soccer Moves up National and Regional Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Kan. MIT women's soccer made history on Tuesday afternoon with the release of the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) rankings, which saw the Engineers move up seven places from last week's rankings to sit in 13th in the nation for Division III. This is the highest Tech has ever been ranked.

In addition to the new national ranking, MIT also appeared as the leader of the New England poll, ahead of Brandeis University and Amherst College, who sit in second and third respectively. This is the first time in program history that the Engineers have been ranked first regionally. So far this season, MIT had sat as high as third in the region.

Last week, MIT tied previously ranked No. 13 Roger Williams University on the road in a 1-1 double-overtime affair. Over the weekend, the Engineers opened New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play against WPI, winning the game by a score of 3-0.

Tech continues with conference play this weekend, hosting Springfield College on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1:00 p.m.
