Women’s Soccer Releases 2018 Schedule

Cambridge, Mass. (July 26) – The nationally-ranked MIT women's soccer program has announced its slate of games for the 2018 season, which will feature a 19-match schedule that includes ten New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contests and nine home games at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. The Engineers will be under the guidance of head coach Martin Desmarais, who was named as the New England Division III Coach of the Year  in 2017 and enters his 12th season on the sidelines with the Engineers.

Full 2018 Women's Soccer Season Schedule

The Engineers will open the season at home for the second straight season and will take on Carleton College from Northfield, Minnesota on Friday, August 31 at 1:30 p.m. Additionally, of the 19 scheduled games this fall, MIT will play five teams that made an appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament a year ago including reigning national champions Williams College, Brandeis University, Roger Williams University, Lesley University and Tufts University. 

After playing six straight non-conference games in a span of 12 days to open the campaign, the Engineers will head to Norton, Massachusetts for their first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match against Wheaton College on Saturday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m. Other key NEWMAC games for MIT come on October 20, when the Engineers will travel to Springfield College for a rematch of last year's NEWMAC Championship game before playing at WPI (10/23) and home against Emerson (10/27) prior the conference tournament begins on October 30 at a site to be determined later.

Returning to the squad in August will be reigning NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Year and CoSIDA Academic All-American Hailey Nichols (Boulder, Colo.) as well as Emily Berzolla (Riverside, Conn.) and Lily Mueller (Lakeville, Minn.), who also both earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors last season. Additionally, Amy Apostol (Los Gatos, Calif.), Shannon Miller (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Maya Nielan (Danville, Calif.), who were all named to the NEWMAC All-Conference teams last season will all wear the Cardinal and Gray once again this fall for the Engineers.
