BOSTON, Mass. - Hannah Kimball scored in the second minute of Wednesday's tilt to lead Simmons College to a 2-0 victory over MIT. Christina Aldrich sealed the win later in the half after finishing on a penalty kick in the 30th minute.

For the second game in a row, the Engineers had a difficult time penetrating the offensive zone. The Sharks' attack was a step quicker to each loose ball, while the tandem of Nicole Zielinski and Diana Salvatore up top peppered netminder Kat Vader with quality shots.

The Engineers' best opportunity of the opening frame came in the 43rd minute on a direct kick. Mary Harding took the shot, but goalkeeper Laura Duran quickly slid to her right and scooped up the ground-level attempt.

In the second half, Simmons substituted at an erratic pace, but the results remained primarily the same. The Sharks had several opportunities to extend the lead, including a door-stop save by Vater against Kristin Zielinski in the 58th minute. Diana Sterk managed a few shots late for the Cardinal and Gray, but second-half keeper Katie Taglieri preserved the shutout.

Vater stopped at least 10 shots for the second consecutive game, making 12 saves against the Sharks. Taglieri made three saves in net as Simmons outshot MIT, 19-4. With the loss, MIT opens the season 0-2 for only the second time ever and the first since 1988.
