CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sophomore Amanda Ramos gathered a pass from Lindsay Sylvester in a deeply crowded box, then delivered the game-winning score in the 59th minute of Saturday's NEWMAC tilt as Clark topped MIT, 1-0. The win pushed the Cougars to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in league play, while Tech falls back to 2-7 and 0-2.

Clark had numerous chances to extend the lead, but was unable to score despite a consistent presence in the offensive end. The Cougars fired 12 shots on goal in the opening half, only to be denied by junior Kat Vater on every attempt. Ramos, who scored the lone goal of the match, paced the attack with five shots on the day.

The Engineers had a difficult time keeping the ball out of its backfield, although the Cardinal and Gray did mount some pressure in the last part of the second half. Senior Juthica Mallela delivered a rocket to the top left corner that just missed wide, while Meghan O'Kane had a goal-line opportunity thwarted by a timely save by Nolinzwe Nondabula.

Nondabula made four saves in the game en route to the shutout. Vater, who leads the NEWMAC in saves per game, was again tested repeatedly, and finished the match with 13 stops.
