NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Engineers settled for their second scoreless tie in 11 days against conference foes after tying Smith College, 0-0, on Saturday in Northampton. The defensive duel yielded only four shots on goal by each side while MIT picked up a point for the third time in its last four matches.

Despite playing hard for 110 minutes, neither team was able to find the back of the net. The offenses delivered a solid effort in the two overtimes with each team creating a good scoring opportunity. However, each time the defenses were able to make a stop.

MIT (4-7-2, 2-2-2) outshot Smith (2-11-1, 1-4-1), 11-6, on the afternoon.

Offensively, MIT was led by Lauren Hernley, who finished with four shots, including two on goal. Each goaltender, Lauren Bachtel for Smith, and Stephanie Brenman for MIT, made four saves on the day.
