SHENANDOAH, Texas – MIT sophomore Veronika Jedryka (Arlington, Ill.) highlighted the third day of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving championships with an eighth place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke in the Finals on Friday evening. Tech concluded the third day of competition in seventh place and a team score of 105 points.
Jedryka, who earned a spot in this evening's finals with a preliminary time of 55.93, finished the event in eighth place, clocking a time of 56.10. Finishing in the top-eight of her event, Jedryka claimed All-America honors.
In the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, Jedryka, senior Emmie Ryan (Avon, Ind.), junior Katherine Yu (San Jose, Calif.) and freshman Mary Thielking (Fishers, Ind.) collaborated for an eighth place performance, clocking a time of 7:29.01. All four swimmer earned All-America honors.
Tech will return to the pool tomorrow, Saturday, March 21 for the final day of competition. The Cardinal and Gray will compete in the 1650 Free, 100 Freestyle, 200 Yard Backstroke, 200 Yard Breaststroke and 400 Yard Free Relay.
