Kailey Allen Named NEWMAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Westwood, Mass. (January 18) – After helping the No. 8 women's swimming and diving team to a 180-102 win over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday afternoon, MIT freshman Kailey Allen (Tacoma, Wash.) was named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Swimmer of the Week. Allen picked up her second Athlete of the Week honor of the season the announcement this afternoon.

Allen registered three event wins for the Engineers in the victory over Coast Guard this weekend. Allen individually won the 100-fly in 58.74 and the 200-fly in an NCAA "B" cut time of 2:05.71. Her swim in the 200-fly marked the fifth time this season in which Allen has notched an individual NCAA "B" cut time.

MIT is back in action on Friday, January 19 with a double-dual meet at Williams College at 2:00 p.m. The Engineers will take the host Ephs, which are ranked No. 5 in Division III and the No. 6 Violets of NYU.
