Kailey Allen Named NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week for Third Time This Year

Westwood, Mass. (January 22) – For the third time this season, MIT women's swimming and diving freshman Kailey Allen (Tacoma, Wash.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Swimmer of the Week as she aided the No. 8 women's swimming and diving team to its first win over No. 5 NYU in program history last Friday.

Allen had a dominant performance in the butterfly events and was the only swimmer for the Engineers to win an event in a double-dual meet against No. 5 NYU and No. 6 Williams on Friday. Allen touched the wall first in the 200-fly with an NCAA "B" cut time of 2:03.25 and was the runner-up in the 100-fly in a time of 58.14-seconds. Allen also aided the 400 medley relay team to fourth place in the meet's opening event with a time of 3:59.65.

MIT returns to the pool on Friday, January 26 with a home dual meet against Division I Boston College. Action is set to get underway at 6:00 p.m. from inside the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Poo.
