AS A JUNIOR IN 2007-08: Recorded Top-8 finishes in all three of her individual events at NEWMACs, placing 4th in the 100 and 200 Fly and 6th in the 200 IM. Her time in the 100 fly (59.75) was the 4th fastest all-time, while her preliminary time in the 200 Fly (2:13.79) was the 6th fastest in school history. A member of both MIT's "A" 200 and 400 Medley Relays, which placed 4th and 3rd respectively. Provided a critical win in the 200 Fly in MIT's slim dual-meet victory over Wheaton in December.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2006-07: Led the Engineers' backstroke campaign at NEWMACs, placing 4th in the both the 100 and 200 Back. Her time of 1:01.85 in the 100 was a collegiate-best. Moved up to place 5th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.17 after earning her spot in the finals with a swim off. Swam the lead-off leg for the 200 and 400 Medley Relay teams, which finished 3rd and 4th, respectively. Also a member of the "B" 200 Free Relay team, which finished first among "B" teams, and the preliminary "A" 400 Free Relay.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2005-06: Pulled out a blistering 28.56 backstroke split leading off the "B" 200 Medley Relay--faster than all but one of the "A" backstrokers. A member of the school record-setting 200 Free Relay Team, which placed 3rd overall. Earned Second-Team All-Conference Honors as part of the runner-up 400 Medley Relay. Placed 4th in the 200 Back, with a collegiate-best time of 2:13.40. Rounded out her individual campaign with strong finishes in both the 100 Fly (4th) and 200 IM (5th).

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year varsity swimmer at Conestoga High School in Paoli, PA...All-American as a member of the school record-holding 200 Free Relay as a junior...Honorable-Mention All-American in the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free relay

CLUB: Malvern Swimming Association, coached by Pete Lee and Kip Hein. (1995-present)

PERSONAL: Born August 6, 1987 in Schenectady, NY to Herbert and Joanne Chao...has one brother, David, a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis and a sprinter on the swim team...lists her proudest collegiate moment as helping to break the school record in the 200 Free Relay at NEWMACs as a freshman...a Course 20 (Biological Engineering) major.
