  • ITA Recognizes MIT Women’s Tennis For Academic Excellence

    TEMPE, Ariz. – For the 14th straight season, the MIT women’s tennis team was recognized for its academic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with the association’s All-Academic Team award. In addition, eight student-athletes from the program received ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition – the fourth consecutive year and for the eighth time in the past ten seasons at least eight members of the program have been lauded for their achievements in the classroom.
  • Kohrs and Tzeng Earn ITA All-America Accolades

    SKILLMAN, N.J. – MIT women's tennis junior Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) and sophomore Dora Tzeng (Fremont, Calif.) have both been named All-Americans, as released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Thursday morning. As a team this year, the Engineers finished ranked No. 17 in the country by the ITA.

    KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Representing MIT at the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Singles Championship, junior Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) and sophomore Dora Tzeng (Fremont, Calif.) took to the courts at Kalamazoo College on Thursday. Kohrs, making her second appearance at the tournament, advanced to the second round while Tzeng fell in her opening match as a first-time qualifier.

Individually, two members of the women's tennis team have qualified for the NCAA Division III Singles Championship.   • Kohrs, Tzeng Selected To Compete At 2016 NCAA Division III Singles Championship

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the first time in program history, two members of the No. 16 MIT women's tennis team have been selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Singles Individual Championship. Junior Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) and sophomore Dora Tzeng (Fremont, Calif.) will travel to Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan for the Singles Tournament from May 26-28, which is scheduled to begin after the conclusion of the team championship. Both Kohrs and Tzeng will find out who they will face-off against when the draw in revealed on May 25, the final day of the team championship.
  • Women's Tennis Falls to Williams, 5-1, in NCAA Regional Final

    WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The MIT women’s tennis team saw its season come to an end in the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament when it was defeated by host Williams College, 5-1, on Sunday. Following the loss, the Engineers’ finished the year with a record of 13-8.
  • Engineers Blank Skidmore, 5-0, in NCAA Tournament

    WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – MIT swept the doubles points and then quickly secured two wins at singles in downing Skidmore College, 5-0, in Saturday’s second round of the NCAA Tournament hosted by Williams College. With the win, the Engineers (13-7) advance to tomorrow's regional final at 12:00 p.m. against the winner of the Williams College vs. Wilkes University match.
  • MIT Women’s Tennis Opens NCAA Tournament Play Friday

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After an Elite 8 finish in 2015, MIT’s women’s tennis team will be making its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship this week. The NCAA announced that the Engineers will receive a first-round bye and play at the regional site hosted by Williams College and will open play on Saturday, May 14. MIT received an invitation to the Championship after capturing the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship last fall.
  • Middlebury Gets Past MIT, 7-2

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Playing in its final regular season match of the season, the No. 14 MIT women’s tennis team was just a point down going into doubles play against No. 7 Middlebury College, but the Panthers won all but one of the singles contests to come away with a 7-2 win.

    POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – MIT’s No. 14 women’s tennis team wrapped up its two-game weekend road trip in fine style, defeating No. 38 Vassar College, 9-0. Junior Krystal Lai (Irvine, Calif.) was one of four Engineers that came away with a pair of wins on the afternoon.

    GREENCASTLE, Ind. – MIT’s first trip to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Indoor Championships came to a close today with a pair of tough losses for the Engineers’ women’s tennis team. MIT started the day with a 7-2 loss to Washington University – St. Louis and then fell to host DePauw University by a final of 5-4.

After over seven hours of play it was No. 12 Sewanee that edged the Engineers 5-4 after MIT was forced to retire in the deciding match.

Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.
