Westwood, Mass. (March 12) -- For the second straight week, MIT's No. 1 doubles team of senior Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) and freshman Libby Rickeman (Wayzata, Minn.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week. In addition, Rickeman earned her first NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week honor as well as the No. 21 Engineers defeated No. 19 Brandeis University by a 7-2 final in the team's lone match last week.
The doubles team of Kohrs and Rickeman remained unbeaten with an 8-1 win over Haley Cohen and Olivia Leavitt of Brandeis to help lead the Engineers to a 3-0 doubles advantage. Rickeman followed that with a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set win in the No. 2 singles spot for one of three straight-set victories in singles play for MIT over the No. 19 Judges.
MIT is back in action later this week as the Engineers travel to the University of Mary Washington for a three-match Spring Break trip.
