Princeton, N.J. - With the cancellation of the MIT Spring Invitational, only a small group of the women's track and field team competed over the weekend, taking part in Princeton's Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational on Friday evening.

Junior Martina de Geus (Los Altos, Calif.) was the first of the Engineers to compete, running in one of the elite sections of the 3000 Steeplechase. She crossed the line in 18th place with a time of 10:58.15, bettering her personal record by ten seconds.

In the 5000m, freshman Sarah Quinn (Watchung, N.J.) finished in 34th with a 17:33.00. She was followed soon after by sophomore Elaine McVay (San Ramon, Calif.) in 44th place with a time of 17:46.83.

MIT has a busy two weeks coming up, with the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship at Springfield College next weekend and the New England Division III Championship at Colby College the week after.
