Men's and Women's Track and Field Lands 40 NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors

Cambridge, Mass. (May 15) -- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced the Men's and Women's Track and Field Academic All-Conference Teams, honoring 156 student-athletes from across the league. MIT led the way with 40 total selections, including league-highs for both the men (18) and the women (22).

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale of 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2018 fall semester, achieved second-year academic status at their institution and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The MIT men's and women's teams host the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday, May 16th beginning at 5 p.m. as the final opportunity for people to qualify for nationals. The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship is scheduled to take place on May 23-25 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The field will be announced on Saturday, May 18th at 9 a.m. via a press release on www.ncaa.com.
