MIT Tabbed for Third in NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Preseason Ranking

BOSTON, Mass. – In the inaugural New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Preseason Poll, reigning champion MIT received one first-place vote as it finished third among the league's 11 teams. Springfield College, a 2012 semifinalist, claimed the top spot with seven first-place votes while tournament runner-up Wellesley College was second.

The Engineers, who posted a ledger of 30-6 and made their 15th NCAA Tournament appearance last year, kick off the 2013 season on Friday, August 30 at the Regis College Pride Invitational. MIT's pursuit of back-to-back NEWMAC titles begins on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at WPI.
