Abby Bertics Named to AVCA All-America Third Team

Lexington, Ky. (November 13) – For the second year in a row, MIT senior Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) was voted to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Third Team as announced by the organization on Tuesday. Her selection marks the fifth year in a row the Engineers have been represented on this list.

Bertics leads Division III in kills per set (4.97) while ranking fifth across all NCAA divisions. She paces the NEWMAC in kills (437) and kills per set while standing fifth in hitting percentage (.304).

Last week, Bertics was named the NEWMAC Athlete of the Year for the second straight season, becoming the second player in program history to be a multiple conference Athlete of the Year honoree. She was tabbed for AVCA New England Region Player of the Year accolades and also earned a spot on the New England Women's Volleyball Association All-New England First Team for the second year in a row.
