DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The MIT women's cross country team, ranked No. 5 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, had five of the top nine finishers en route to a comfortable team victory at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Brooke Johnson (Shoreham, N.Y.) was the top overall finisher by over four seconds.
Johnson was the first across the finish, coming through in 17:54.35. Elaine McVay (San Ramon, Calif.) was third with a time of 18:00.31. Martina de Gues (Los Altos, Calif.) took fifth overall, coming through the chute in 18:33.83. Dacie Manion (Old Town, Maine) was two spots back at 18:39.04. Tania Morimoto (Mountain View, Calif.) rounded out the top five for Tech, placing ninth with a time of 18:48.87.
The Engineers' team score of 25 points was good for the top overall spot by a wide margin. Coast Guard was second with a total score of 109.
The Cardinal and Gray will return in two weeks on Saturday, October 1 at the Bowdoin College Invitational.
