BOSTON, Mass. – For the first time in her career, sophomore Maryann Gong (Livermore, Calif.) was tabbed New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's cross country runner of the week. Gong led the No. 2 Engineers to a program-best third place finish at the NEICAA Championships at Franklin Park on Saturday, October 11.
Crossing in 12th place in the field of 262 runners, Gong finished the 5k course in 18:00.20. Gong recorded the second fastest time for Division III runners, just 0.08 seconds behind the top Division III finisher.
MIT returns to action this Saturday, October 18 when they travel to Winneconne, Wisconsin for the AAE Invitational.
